Climate and Energy / Market Mechanisms

First series of meetings held in Paris as part of the collaboration between Japan and France on long-term climate strategies

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan (NIES) held a meeting in Paris from 23 to 25 November with several research institutions and governmental organisations in France. Participant organisations included the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), the French Environment & Energy Management Agency (ADEME), the International Center of Research on the Environment and Development (CIRED) and several departments of the French Ministry of Environment Ministry and the Sea (MEEM). The meetings resulted in better understanding of the potential for collaboration regarding long-term scenarios modelling and policy advocacy research. Participants agreed on a tentative schedule to hold the next series of meetings and a workshop under the framework on this cooperation.
