Workshop on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) jointly organised a Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, in order to introduce updated information on international climate policies and the JCM, and further promote low-carbon development in Thailand. IGES researchers made a presentation about the results of COP24 and a summary rulebook on the Paris Agreement. An IGES researcher also explained about how JCM projects greatly contribute to the NDC in Thailand, ensuring representative net reductions, and introduced successful cases for JCM. Then, IGES and TGO implemented a panel discussion. The workshop was joined by 60 participants, mainly from the private sector, and fostered better understanding about the way all countries in the world can start to form a zero-emission society, and how the JCM scheme will play a role in triggering this drastic reform.
