Seminar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Environment Conservation Fund, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mongolia, organised a seminar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

A 15 MW solar power plant project near the new airport in Tuv province was presented at the seminar as an example of a Model Project of the JCM Financing Programme. Potential project developers took away lessons on the project development process by hearing first-hand experiences of Tenuun Gerel Construction LLC, a Mongolian company which represented the power plant, in designing the project and obtaining support from the JCM Financing Programme. In addition, other speakers shared tips for developing projects to get optimum benefits from the financing programme and the details on financial incentives provided by the Government of Mongolia to renewable energy projects in the country. At this event, the Mongolian JCM Secretariat and IGES also introduced a video on private sector contributions to climate change mitigation and development of a tool to assess contributions from the JCM projects to sustainable development in Mongolia.
