Open Seminar on Renewable Energy Development in Mongolia

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Environment Conservation Fund, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mongolia organised a seminar on renewable energy development in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The seminar was organised to promote the importance of renewable energy in climate change mitigation and to discuss challenges and opportunities to support contributions from the private sector in Mongolia. IGES shared global trends on renewable energy technology and policy development as well as the ongoing support from carbon markets. Through an open panel discussion, policymakers and representatives from private companies engaged in active dialogue on recommendations for renewable energy policies to strengthen and promote actions from the private sector. At this event, the Mongolian JCM Secretariat and IGES also introduced a video that features contribution from the private sector to climate change mitigation in Mongolia under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).
