Workshop on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) and Low-Carbon Technologies in the Philippines
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Environmental Management Bureau, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (EMB-DENR) jointly organised the “Workshop on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) and Low-Carbon Technologies in the Philippines” on 20 February 2018.
Aiming towards promoting sustainable development goals through transfers of low-carbon technology, the purpose of the workshop is to disseminate and enhance the JCM mechanism in the Philippines. IGES researchers gave presentations on “The JCM model project financing programme and project development support”, and “IGES support for JCM MRV and project development”. Participants from the Climate Change Commission and Asian Development Bank also made presentations on “Philippines’ policy on low-carbon technology development” and “Japan Fund for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JFJCM)” to introduce various approaches to promote JCM projects. Around 60 participants representing the government and the private sector gained an understanding of the mechanism and methodologies through active discussions.
