Overview of Kansai Research Centre
The Kansai Research Centre (KRC) carries out research focusing on actions taken by the private sector, including businesses that promote environmental and energy-conservation measures, under the theme of "Business and the Environment". Specifically, the centre conducts analysis on corporate environmental behaviours in cooperation with case study countries and local governments, and develops policy recommendations for specific strategies to promote sustainable business practices in Asia by promoting the application of low-carbon and co-benefit technologies to developing countries through research on environmental and energy-saving technologies of businesses.
IGES and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India, launched the multi-stakeholder ‘Japan India Technology Matchmaking Platform’ (JITMAP) in July 2016 as part of the project on evaluation and verification of CO2 emissions reduction technologies (TA project) funded by Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ). Through JITMAP, IGES and TERI facilitates the deployment of low carbon technologies (LCTs) in India through B2B (business to business) matchmaking among Japanese LCT manufacturers and Indian companies.
JITMAP launched its online information sharing portal– http://jitmap.org/index.php at the World Summit for Sustainable Development on February 15th, 2018 in Delhi, India, to provide a database for over 40 feasibility studies across nine LCTs and to disseminate comprehensive information on LCTs, government policies and financing options from India and Japan.

JST-JICA: Science and Technology Research partnership for Sustainable Development
“Research Partnership for the Application of Low Carbon Technology for Sustainable Development”
This project aims to formulate an international scheme to accelerate application of Japanese low-carbon technologies to India through the development of concrete strategies. Such strategies include: identifying appropriate technologies for green house gas (GHG) reductions both in India and Japan; capacity building; knowledge sharing; establishing knowledge-sharing schemes by compiling technical information on low-carbon technologies; and constructing a joint working system with private firms. In particular, the project aims to conduct research and analysis on energy consumption by Indian energy-intensive SMEs; to identify promising investment opportunities, success factors and priority-appropriate technology based on the trend of electricity consumption; and to promote the application of such technology with special attention to SMEs through selected pilot projects.
