IGES and ILO Agree on Collaboration to Promote Joint Activity on Research, Training, Advocacy and Policy Support for Green Jobs

Ms. Mangahas and Prof. Hamanaka signed the agreement at the ILO-ROAP office
On 4 September 2012, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) entered into an Agreement on Cooperation to increase the opportunities for collaboration at the technical level in fields of common interest and activity.

The Agreement was signed by Ms. Thetis Mangahas, Regional Director, a.i. of the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) and Prof. Hironori Hamanaka, Chair of Board of Directors of IGES at the ILO-ROAP in Bangkok, Thailand.

ILO and IGES will address issues of the environment-economy-employment nexus and plan to jointly implement projects such as ILO’s Global Green Jobs Programme that promotes employment and enterprises opportunities in a low-carbon, climate resilient and environmentally-friendly economy.
