UNFCCC Secretariat and IGES Agree Upon a Cooperative Undertaking to Exchange CDM Data and Information

23 May 2008

On 7 April, the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC Secretariat), located in Bonn, Germany, and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), located in Kanagawa, Japan, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for a cooperative undertaking to exchange CDM data and information.

By exchanging data from the CDM databases and resulting analytical information, it is hoped that web-based statistics on UNFCCC CDM can be enhanced and supplemented. This will also ensure the consistency of the data and information from the two organisations made available to the public.

This cooperative undertaking is expected to strengthen the quality of data and information contained in the IGES CDM databases, which are currently provided regularly to the public through the IGES web-site. IGES will provide statistical results based on the use of these databases to the UNFCCC secretariat and other users including the CDM Executive Board. Resultant analytical information will continue to be provided to the public through a series of IGES databases including the IGES CDM Project Data Analysis.
