IGES-TERI-TDLC kick-off blended e-learning course
"Science and Policy of Climate Change 2012"
On April 11, IGES jointly kicked off a blended learning program with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Centre (TDLC). The program follows an interdisciplinary approach that is enriched by audio, video, and interactive web-based content. It uses the latest information and communication technology (ICT) tools and employs a unique video conferencing format to support learning. The opening video conference had more than 100 participants from nine countries. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the Director of TERI and the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), offered introductory greetings and wished students success in the course. Mr. Hideyuki Mori, the President of IGES, remarked in his keynote address that while there still is a gap between climate science and policy, education will play an increasingly important role in narrowing it.

IGES researchers will deliver a series of lectures during the course program on the political economy of climate change action.
