IPCC Vice-Chair Visits IGES Tokyo Office
15 September 2017
On September 15, 2017, the IGES Tokyo Office was honored to host Dr. Thelma Krug, Vice-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to share updates on recent and ongoing work concerning global climate policy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication. Having just returned from the IPCC's 46th session meeting held 6-10 September 2017 in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Krug spoke about progress made with regard to IPCC’s forthcoming Sixth Assessment Report (AR-6), as well as her leading role in preparing IPCC's Special Report on the impacts of global warming above 1.5 degrees Celsius (SR 1.5), expected to be finalized in late 2018. IGES extends its gratitude to Dr. Krug for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit and discuss these developments, underlining our long history of collaboration supporting evidence-based policymaking in the international climate arena.
