IGES signs a commitment to the UN Global Compact and joins that Global Compact Network Japan

22 October 2015

On 16 October 2015, IGES signed a commitment to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and joined the Global Compact Network Japan (GCNJ).

The UN Global Compact is an initiative in which businesses and organisations operate as responsible members of society and participate in building a global framework to realise sustainable development by showing responsible, creative leadership. Local networks across the world act as a platform for sustainable development and the local network in Japan, the Global Compact Network Japan works to deepen discussion and learning through positive collaborations such as information exchange with participating companies and organisations and through external partnerships.

IGES has committed to supporting and engaging in the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact with respect to four areas (human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption), and continues to conduct environment-related research activities for the creation of a sustainable society.
