Asia Resource Circulation Policy Research
Open Symposium
hHow to Establish Sound Material Cycle Society and Green Economy in Developing Asia?h |
 |
 |
In 2009, Regional 3R Forum in Asia was launched as a platform to facilitate international cooperation for reduce, reuse and recycle (the 3Rs) with participation from developing Asia and Pacific Island countries. One of the expected functions of the Forum is to provide policy-relevant advice to the participating countries and organisations based on international collaborative research.
To form this function, international collaborative research gAsia Resource Circulation Policy Researchh was initiated to create knowledge contributing to the smooth implementation of 3R policies in developing Asia. Currently, eight research institutes and universities from China, Thailand, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Philippines and Japan are participating in the project.
Moreover, the Japanese government has been supporting the development of Green Economy in Japan by giving assistance to 3R policies and recycling industries in Asia.
The symposium shared some of the latest results from the international collaborative research "Asia Resource Circulation Policy Research", introduced challenges for establishing a sound material cycle society in Asia, and discussed the potential contribution of recycling industries to achieve Green Economy in Asia. A panel discussion followed on the updates on the systematisation of recycling and also the perspectives and challenges of recycling business in Asia. |
