The Final Workshop of RISPO-II The Final Workshop of RISPO-II was held on 26-28 March 2008 at the Pan Pacific Yokohama Bay Hotel, Japan, organized by IGES. Representatives from the UNEP and other core research institutes and resource persons for RISPO-II were invited. Researchers from IGES and partner institutes of five Asian counties (China, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam) participated in the Workshop and presented the final results of the research, focusing on the achievement made in FY2007. In the Workshop, the results of the sector-specific studies conducted at the both regional and national levels by IGES and the partner institutes as well as the results of modeling analysis conducted by IGES and McGill University were presented. In addition, IGES as leading institute of the project made a presentation on the overall policy implications from a broader perspective based on the synthesis of the aforementioned studies and analysis. During the Workshop, lively discussions were made on the topics of the economic impacts of the regional economic integration and associated environmental/ social impacts, policy gaps in existing policies and measures, proposed policy options to address the identified issues and challenges in the research, the effectiveness and implementability of proposed policy options, and future research need.
