Press Release:
IGES Won an Award in the "2009 Environmental Policy Competition for NGO/NPO/Business" by Japanese Government
7 April 2010
The proposal entitled "Dissemination of Low-Carbon Devices by 'Green Gift' in the Household Sector" which was jointly developed by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Japan Research Institute, Ltd. (JRI), was awarded as one of the best proposals in the "2009 Environmental Policy Competition for NGO/NPO/Business". The competition is organised by the Ministry of the Environment Japan (MOEJ).

The proposal paid attention to the older generation which owns equal to or more than 70% of the Domestic Financial Asset (approximately JPY 1,400 trillion). By greening the asset flow from the older generation to their children and grand-children with donations of solar energy generation and high efficiency water heaters, etc., it aims to promote the dissemination of low-carbon devices in the household sector and to contribute to the reduction of domestic CO2 emissions.

This proposal was selected from among 55 proposals gathered by MOEJ.
