Internship
Welcome to the IGES Internship Programme website!
The IGES Internship Programme provides opportunities for graduate students to experience IGES research projects first-hand at the IGES Headquarters in Hayama (Kanagawa) and its offices in Kobe (Hyogo) and Kitakyushu (Fukuoka).
Please see the section entitled gAbout the Programmeh for further details.



IGES Internship for the first half of FY2012
(2012
April - September)
Registration is closed.
Selection process is currently ongoing.
(IGES will contact only the successful applicants in February and the beginning of March. Please note in advance that we will not contact applicants who have not been chosen for an internship.)



IGES Internship for the second half of FY2012
(2012 October- December
and 2013 January- March)
Details will be announced in June/July 2012 on the IGES website.

Schedule of Announcements
Announcements are made twice a year on the IGES Website:
- The summer internships (April-September) are announced in January.
- The winter/spring internships (October-December/ January-March)are announced in June/July.
 
About the Programme
The eligible candidates will be those who
(1) have a related background and are working on relevant research themes;
(2) are willing to learn through on-the-job training at IGES;
(3) are proficient enough in English for the purposes of oral communication and the writing of documents;
(4) can participate in the internship programme from 9:30-18:00, five days a week for 2-3 consecutive months;
(5) have basic PC skills; and
(6) have an endorsement of their professors.






Recruitment: Employment

Please note that:
(a) the interns will not be paid;
(b) the interns have to cover their own travel expenses to and from the place of the internship;
(c) the interns are responsible for obtaining insurance to cover their medical expenses;
(d) the interns at HQ can use accommodation attached to the HQ; >> details of the accommodation at HQ
(e) the interns at Kansai Research Centre and the Kitakyushu Urban Centre will be provided a rented room with the utility and telephone charges to be paid by the interns; and
(f) applicants will be requested to submit all application documents indicated in the recruiting announcement. They usually consist of a cover letter explaining the intention of the application, curriculum vitae, writing samples, and professorfs endorsement or school credit information.
Nationals of developing countries as defined by the OECD (with the exception of those living in Japan at the time of acceptance) are eligible to apply for the training subsidy after they are selected.
