"Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Network" Launched

On 3 October 2009, the official launch of the Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Network took place in Bangkok, Thailand.

IGES and UNEP Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP RRC.AP) jointly host this network and one IGES staff member will be dispatched as the person in charge of the network.

At COP15/CMP5, the "Global Climate Change Adaptation Network", unifying five regional adaptation networks, will be officially launched under the leadership of UNEP.

About "Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Network"

Overall objective:

- Help build climate resilience of vulnerable human systems, ecosystems and economis through the mobilization of knowlede and technologies to support adaptation capacity building, policy-setting, planning and practices
Specific Objectives
- Improve availability and accessiblty of knowledge relevant to adaptation, and enhance dissemination of information on good adaptation practices
- Strengthen targeted knowledge support and advisory services to governments, planners and practitioners,
- Enhance capacity of developing country institutions working on adaptation
