The Third German - Japanese Workshop on
Climate Change and Corporate Strategy

Global climate change is drawing a growing amount of attention from the general public and figuring prominently in corporate strategies. Among German businesses, the trend is to develop corporate strategies based on the idea that climate policies, including the EU-ETS, can become a business opportunity. Because climate change is just as important to Japanese businesses, this trend should offer them important lessons.

Discussions in this workshop focused on policies and corporate strategies to tackle climate change. A wide range of participants from government, business, and academia in Germany and Japan introduced climate efforts taken in both countries. In the following panel, panelists discussed Climate Change and Corporate Strategy from the current and mid-term perspectives toward 2020, comparing existing climate policy trends in Germany and Japan.
