With the date of COP15 in Copenhagen approaching, and with the change of government in Japan, discussions on international and domestic climate regimes are drawing increasing attention. There is particular focus on how to utilise market mechanisms including emissions trading schemes, and various actions have been taken overseas.
This seminar firstly introduced the current situation of emissions trading schemes in the world, followed by a presentation on the current situation of International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP), which is actively pursuing linking carbon markets. This seminar also provided an updated report on international climate negotiations at the Bangkok AWG meeting, focusing on market mechanisms.
