| Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Capacity Building workshop for the Local Government Units (LGUs) |

 IGES and Ateneo de Manila University-School of Government (ASOG) the Philippines, organised a CDM capacity building workshop for the LGUs. Total of 41 environmental, planning and solid waste management officers in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and La Union provinces participated in the workshop.
Following the opening remarks, ASOG provided introductory presentations on general information on climate change, the Kyoto Protocol and CDM, and the registered CDM projects in the Philippines. IGES presented the statistics on the registered CDM projects, especially on waste management projects, such as biogas from animal manure and waste water, landfill gas recovery and utilization, and compost projects.
After these presentations, participants conducted some exercises to calculate estimated emission reductions of their projects with IGES Emission Reductions Calculation Sheets. |
