Seminar on the New Market Mechanisms
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Lao PDR jointly organised a seminar on new market mechanisms for Lao PDR DNA members on 2 September 2011. In this meeting, MONRE introduced climate change policy in Lao and potentials of mitigation and adaptation for climate change in each sector. IGES explained the status of market mechanisms in international negotiations. IGES gave a presentation on NAMAs (Nationally appropriate mitigation actions) and MRV (Monitoring, Review and Verification) which are expected to be part of the measures for new market mechanisms. About 20 participants discussed issues related to new market mechanisms after the presentations.
