| The 2nd Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Study Meeting for Lao PDR DNA |

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Water Resources and Environment Administration (WREA) which is a focal point of the Designated National Authority in Lao PDR jointly organised a CDM Study Meeting for Lao PDR DNA members on 20 July 2010. In this meeting, WREA presented a summary of CDM and CDM capacity building programme activities which were started last year in collaborated with IGES and explained the status of the CDM project in Lao PDR. IGES then reported on the situation of the CDM capacity building programme activities in other countries and gave a summary of the CDM programme of Activities (PoA) which was first registered at the UN last year. IGES also commented on the status of the CDM projects registration from Least Developed Countries and. introduced potential projects in Lao PDR as well as giving an explanation about the new mechanisms attracting attention in international negotiations.
The staff in charge of climate change, environment, electricity, forestation and agriculture from Water Resources and Environment Administration and relevant ministries had many questions and joined the lively discussion about the concrete methodologies and related topics.
