The Second Workshop New Market Mechanism Possibilities For Climate Change Mitigation Beyond 2012
Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) organized “The Second Workshop New Market Mechanism Possibilities For Climate Change Mitigation Beyond 2012” in Jakarta (the first one was held on 20th and 21st July) in cooperation with National Council on Climate Change Indonesia (NCCCI) and Yasasan Bina Usaha Lingkugan (YBUL) on 20th October 2011.

The purposes of this workshop were to discuss Indonesia's political and institutional tasks with government officials, private companies and NGOs in order to implement new market mechanism based on Japanese experiences.

In this workshop, IGES made a presentation on fundamental elements (policy, registry, guideline, account, finance etc.) for structuring emission trading scheme and crediting mechanism. IGES also introduced emission trading schemes by local governments (Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Saitama Prefecture). About 40 participants actively discussed a possible new market mechanism and NAMA in Indonesia.
