Sino-Japan cooperation meeting on Climate Change

Since 2006, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) has been implementing CDM Capacity building and the Sino-Japan CDM Cooperation Programme which promotes the creation of high potential CDM projects through joint cooperation between China and Japan, under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan.
The title of this programme is changed into “Sino-Japan Climate Change Cooperation Programme” to implement not only CDM cooperation but also climate change cooperation including the development of low carbon society.
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) organised FY2011 1st Sino-Japan Climate Change Cooperation Programme Steering Committee on 11 July in Beijing. 12 Participants from the Chinese side attended including Mr. Su Wei, Director-General, Department of Climate Change from National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Tsinghua University, the secretariat of this programme. There were also 8 participants on the Japanese side, including representatives of the Ministry of the Environment Japan (MOEJ), Embassy of Japan in China and IGES. Participants actively exchanged opinions about this year’s activities and climate change policy in both countries. |
