Since 2006, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) has been implementing the Sino-Japan CDM Cooperation Programme which encourages the materialisation of high potential CDM projects through joint cooperation between China and Japan.
As one of the activities of the programme, IGES visited Kitakyusyu city with National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Tsinghua University on 16 November. After visited some eco-friendly and low carbon emission facilities including Kitakyusyu Hydrogen station, Bio diesel fuel (BDF) production facility, Coal Gasification power generation facility, and Photovoltaic generation facility, participants could increase their understandings of the advanced energy actions toward the realization of low carbon society in Kitakyusyu city.
In addition, we visited Mr. Kitahashi, Mayor of Kitakyusyu and exchanged information of recent activities for low carbon society in both Kitakyusyu and China and further discussed a possibility of future Sino-Japan cooperation for low-carbon society.
