| Study meeting on the carbon offset mechanism |

 The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and Ministry of Environment of Cambodia jointly organised a study meeting on the carbon offset mechanism, on 17 January 2012. IGES explained the negotiation status of market mechanisms in COP17 and introduced Japanese offset mechanisms. Ministry of Environment explained about the CDM projects in Cambodia and identified barriers in the implementation. Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy presented about energy use including the projection of electricity demand and the plan of electrification in Cambodia. About 60 participants from Cambodian ministries, private sectors and Japanese companies discussed actively. |
