IGES Kansai Research Centre International Symposium 2007
Prospects and Challenges of Combating Global Warming by Asian Countries
iGES
IGES Kansai Research Centre held international symposium, "Prospects and Challenges of Combating Global Warming by Asian Countries" at Kobe on 14 February, 2008 prior to 10th Anniversary of IGES and G8 Environment Ministers Meeting.

Amongst the global environmental issues, tackling global warming is an urgent task which requires international cooperation between developed and developing countries.

With industrialization and their citizen's lifestyle change due to recent rapid economic growth, China and India have become large CO2 emitters. Both governments started countermeasures against climate change including energy-saving policy.

The aim of this symposium was to activate discussion on the challenges and efforts against climate changes of China and India and on the future of international cooperation.
