photoOn 16 December 2011, the APAN Consultation Meeting for Northeast Asia was organised as part of the Keio symposium gFrom Post-Disaster Reconstruction to the Creation of Resilient Societiesh held in Tokyo, Japan. The consultative meeting aimed to present the goals and activities of APAN, its sub regional and thematic nodes; formally introduce Keio University as the APN sub regional node for Northeast Asia; highlight the issues regarding climate adaptation in Northeast Asia and outline the work undertaken by the sub-regional and thematic nodes of APAN in the other sub regions to the key stakeholders and countries in the region. The meeting successfully identified the work and initiative in the Northeast Asian countries related to climate adaptation and presented these countriesf perspective. Several key points which emerged from the discussions were the expansion of the scope of work of APAN to include other sectors such as marine/ terrestrial issues, the need for cross learning from good practices, conduct assessments for various sectors and spearhead development of matrices, as well as how to measure effectiveness of action, and Ecosystem Based Approach and Community Based Approah in a combined approach.
