IGES and the Department of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Viet Nam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate for the Capacity Building of Market Mechanisms in Viet Nam

On 19 September 2011, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Department of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Viet Nam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in developing market mechanisms to combat climate change through the IGES New Market Mechanism Capacity Building Activity in Viet Nam.

Under the MOU i) IGES and MONRE will develop CO2 emission factor for national electricity system in Viet Nam, and ii) IGES and MONRE will hold consultation meetings and workshops with relevant stakeholders.

IGES has been implementing clean development mechanism (CDM) capacity building activities in several Asian countries (Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Thailand). From this year, IGES in close cooperation with MONRE will launch a new capacity buidling programme.
