With growing interest in sustainable development, looking towards Rio+20, ISAP2011 will be convened with the main themes of "Lessons Learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake - Suggestions to the Rio+20 from the Asia-Pacific Region."

On 26-27 July 2011, in Yokohama, Japan, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will organise the third International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2011). ISAP2011 will discuss issues specific to the Asia-Pacific region including "green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication” and the “institutional framework for sustainable development".

The first day’s session will focus on perspectives on Climate/Energy policy post-2012 and post-tsunami disaster for Japan and other countries in the world by drawing on perspectives from experts from Japan, Germany, China, India and the Republic of Korea. The second day will emphasise the Asia-Pacific region’s specific focus and possible contributions to the UNCSD (United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development) Rio+20 regional preparatory meeting which will be held in Republic of Korea from 19 October 2011.
