IGES will host its 2nd "International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2010)"

Sustainable and Low-Carbon Development Innovative Pathways for Asia-Pacific

On 12-13 July 2010, in Yokohama, Japan, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES - Hayama, Kanagawa; Chair: Prof. Hironori Hamanaka) will organise the second International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2010) *1.

Under the main theme of "low-carbon development in Asia and the Pacific," ISAP2010 will invite front-line experts and representatives from businesses, international organisations, governments and NGOs in Asia, Europe and the US to have open presentations and discussions focusing on issues such as climate change and sustainable consumption and production (SCP).

Raising hot issues including low-carbon society in Asia, negotiation on climate change, SCP, biodiversity, REDD+
*2, adaptation, co-benefits, biofuels and water issues, the participants will conduct discussions based on the latest research results to explore solutions together with the audience. The forum will also launch IGES Third White Paper - "Sustainable Consumption and Production in the Asia-Pacific Region: Effective Responses in a Resource Constrained World" and present its unique insights and policy proposals on SCP from diverse perspectives.

ISAP2010 will also hold Expert Workshops and relevant international Network Meetings in parallel with the Open Sessions.

*1: International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP) is a two-day forum organised by IGES. The forum is held once a year with a timely theme, aiming to share information, promote discussions and strengthen collaborations among stakeholders.
