"Future Climate Regime and Technology Transfer"

On 26 February 2013 (Tuesday), the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) jointly organised a Policy Research Workshop on the ‘Future Climate Regime and Technology Transfer’ in New Delhi, India, as a part of the contract of work of the Ministry of Environment, Japan (MOEJ). The workshop aimed at providing a platform for policymakers and researchers to exchange views between Japan and India, on various critical aspects related to the future climate change regime and the roles of technology transfer in effectively addressing climate change.

In Session 1, “the Future Climate Regime’’, experiences and lessons learned from the global climate negotiation processes, content of the 2015 agreement and institutional design were discussed. In Session 2, “Technology Transfer”, roles, challenges and opportunities of technology transfer were discussed. The discussions highlighted many opportunities for further collaborations between IGES and the research community in India on the future climate change regime,.
