Prof. Hamanaka, Chair of the Board of Directors of IGES, awarded the "Foreign Minister's Commendation for 2015"

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced the "Foreign Minister's Commendations for 2015" and this year, a Commendation has been awarded to Prof. Hironori Hamanaka, Chair of the Board of Directors of IGES.
The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendation also aims to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for their activities.
Prof. Hamanaka has been honoured for his globally recognised activities in the field of the environment. An award ceremony was held on 27 August 2015 at the Iikura Guest House, at which Prof. Hamanaka received his Commendation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fumio Kishida.
In light of this outstanding commendation to Prof. Hamanaka, IGES will continue to work on various environmental issues and make every effort with the aim of achieving a sustainable society.
